EM is a beautiful classic river launch built in 1897. She is currently based at Harts Boatyard in Surbiton and operates as a vessel for charter for special occasions.

Mitre guests can charter Em, with her own Skipper, for up to 12 passengers, embarking and disembarking from our Lion Terrace.

Strawberry Hill House & Garden, created by Horace Walpole in the 18th century, has been open to visitors for over 250 years. Built in the 17th Century, Ham House is one of the most outstanding Stuart houses from that period. Boasting original interiors and restored formal gardens featuring a 17th Century Orangery, Tea Terrace and the much-photographed Cherry Garden.

Once home to Henrietta Howard, mistress of King George II, this is the last complete survivor of the elegant villas which bordered the River Thames in the 18th century. Set in 66 acres of riverside parkland, it houses a fine collection of early Georgian paintings.

Surrounded by gardens, park and farmland, Osterley is one of the last surviving country estates in London.

Once described by Horace Walpole as 'the palace of palaces', Osterley was created in the late 18th century by architect and designer Robert Adam for the Child family to entertain and impress their friends and clients. Today the house is presented as it would have looked in the 1780s.

This grade 1 listed garden created by the great landscape designers of the 18th century charts the evolution of the English Landscape Garden.

Steeped in nearly 300 years of history, this eighteenth-century garden is a green oasis in the heart of Surrey within easy reach of London. Previously the countryside retreat of queens and heirs, Claremont has always been somewhere to escape everyday life and enjoy simple outdoor pleasures.

Many of the great names in landscape design history played a part in the creation of the estate. Over the years Sir John Vanbrugh, Charles Bridgeman, William Kent and ‘Capability’ Brown all put their own distinctive stamp on the pleasure grounds, and in 1866 Queen Victoria herself acquired the estate to save it from development.

Today you can still spot lots of historical features in the garden, including the large turf amphitheatre, serpentine lake, grotto, Camellia Terrace and Belvedere Tower.

The park is a top UK site for ancient trees and supports a range of rare species including fungi, birds, beetles, bats, grasses and wildflowers.

Painshill 18th century landscape garden was created between 1738 and 1773, by the Hon. Charles Hamilton. Inspired by Renaissance art and his Grand Tours, Hamilton went on to create a sequence of breathtaking and surprising vistas at Painshill. The landscapes form living works of art into which Hamilton placed follies for dramatic effect.

Hampton Court Palace Golf Court – 2.0 miles

Many may be aware of the palace at Hampton Court but not necessarily its golf course. Within the grounds at Home Park, it offers a truly unique opportunity to play a traditional parkland course at one of the country’s most famous royal parks.

The Richmond Golf Club – 4.6 miles

A beautiful parkland course, adjoining Richmond Park and Ham Common. This is a private members’ club, where visitors are welcome.

Royal Wimbledon Golf Club – 6.6 miles

The third oldest golf Club in England dating back to 1865. There are active reciprocal links with other Royal Clubs around the world and a limited number of visitors may play the course.

St George's Hill Golf Club – 7.6 miles

One of the prettiest heathland courses in the area, with sweeping, undulating terrain and panoramic views from the clubhouse. Visitors are welcome
